Akshaya Patra Foundation is the world’s largest NGO running the mid-day meal programme in 20 locations in India. The foundation operates in partnership with various state governments in India providing lunch at school to underprivileged children. Both central and state governments contribute 50% of the running cost and the rest is contributed by corporate, individual donors and philanthropists.
With the vision− to ensure no child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger!The foundation initiated the mid-day meal programme in Bangalore feeding 1500 children in five schools. Now, the programme feeds 1.4 million children in government schools. Our mission is to feed five million children by the year 2020.

It is the world's largest organization for the handicapped in terms of fitment of artificial limb, calipers etc., providing them with artificial limbs, calipers, crutches, ambulatory aids like wheel chairs, and other aids and appliances totally free of cost.
The main objective of BMVSS is the physical and socio-economic rehabilitation of the physically disabled, especially the resource-less, so they may lead a life of dignity and become productive members of the community It also conducts scientific and technical research in developing and improving aids and appliances for the physically challenged and also organizes workshops and seminars for dissemination of knowledge and expertise related to the manufacture of such products.
